Raised from seed in 1961 from an open pollinated tree raised by Herman Dool the garden director and possibly one of the best of best of that batch.
It flowers a week or so later than the others with beautiful red flowers.
Is a form with claret-red flowers. It was selected from a group of trees growing in Mount Congreve, Waterford, southern Ireland.
