Magnolia 'Illini Moonlight'
The flowers are relatively small, produced in abundance & are very similar in form to acuminata or subcordata. It has excellent yellow color & is a very prolific bloomer. The medium yellow color holds up well in 80 F+ heat with no apparent fading.
The tree is vigorous & grows in a pear shape & is sterile so no energy is produced in seed. The seed parent is 'Woodsman' the cross was made by the late Joe McDaniel shortly before his untimely death. Joe McDaniel was ill when the seeds where given to Wesley Whiteside & his records where lost or misplaced so the pollen parent is unknown. DESCRIPTION Will Forster
